Women's Health

Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center is committed to providing the finest care to women in all the phases of their lives. We offer services in the following areas:

  • Adolescence - We have physicians with special interest in the health needs of the teen-age population.
  • Family Planning - Consultation on reproductive options.
  • Centering Pregnancy - a program for expecting women that focuses on healthy living for the whole family
  • Prenatal - routine care before the baby arrives
  • Midwifery - health center moms deliver their babies with the assistance of midwives from Mount Auburn Hospital, at the hospital.
  • Gynecology - Women with gynecological issues may consult with a specialist on site
  • Nutrition - Special attention is given to women with weight-related health issues, and to pregnant women for whom good nutrition is a must for two people, not just one. Fresh vegetables are provided, along with recipes for healthy preparation. In season the veggies are grown locally and each eligible recipient receives enough for a family of four on a weekly basis.
  • Through WHN (Women's Healthcare Network), eligible women receive breast and cervical cancer screening, and cardiovascular screening. Case management is a powerful component of this nationwide program.
